They have reinvented themselves and their characters and put forward a number of great shows that have imprinted themselves in the hearts of the audience.
Actors Who Made Comeback With OTT : Reinvented Roles And Noisy Comeback
Madhuri Dixit
Although we have seen Madhuri Dixit playing all sorts of roles in cinema from bubbly, girl next door in movies like Saajan, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun to strong, feminist characters in movies like Gulaab Gang and Lajja. However, her Netflix OTT debut show The Fame Game gave a new dimension to her character that is no longer the sati savitri and loyal person. She is rich, popular, broken and unapologetic when she wants to achieve what she desires and feels happy about.
Raveena Tandon
Raveena Tandon nailed it with her performance in Aranyak, a crime thriller series on Netflix in which she played the role of a working mom and a police officer. Her character has depth and meaning that is way ahead of the shallow female protagonist of Bollywood females whose existence depends on their male counterparts. She is strong and determined, dedicated and fearless as she unravels the murder mystery and save her town from a menacing killer.
Neha Dhupia
Neha Dhupia's A Thursday is receiving good reaction from the audience. The best part about the movie was that Neha's performance was visibly great instead of being a subtle character in the background whose existence is quite unimportant. She played a strong role of a pregnant police officer on duty when a woman holds children of a school in Colaba captive.
Sushmita Sen
Sushmita, the heartthrob, gave a power-packed and engaging performance in Hostar's crime thriller Aarya. She played a wreckless, strong willed and substance woman who fights with the challenges of life, joins gangs and ends up becoming a mafia queen. The role was very different from the usually naive and bubbly roles we have seen her playing bringing a new side of her to the world.
Lara Dutta
Enough with the side-tracking, Lara is now a leading name in the world of OTT. From being given unimportant side roles, Lara made a jump to playing meaningful and strong roles in OTT shows like Kaun Banegi Shikarwati and Hiccups and Hookups. She came to the front and owned the stage and hearts with her awesome acting that never really got the right use in offline cinema.
Kajol
Kajol came to OTT with a women centric film on Netflix, Tribhanga, that carved her into a more realistic and relatable role, different from the dramatic and typically Bollywood role we have seen her in. The movie explored the miscommunication and challenges faced by three different generations of a family where Kajol played a foul mouthed Oddissi dancer.
Shefali Shah
Shefali Shah really broke all stereotypes and showed the world the talents that did not get the limelight they deserved yet. OTT had some great shows and movies with Shefali in lead where the actor was seen portraying deep and complex roles. Her OTT performances include Ajeeb Dastaans, Delhi Crime, Human, Darlings, Jalsa, Doctor G, that were all highly acclaimed and very well accepted by audience.
Pooja Bhatt
This popular actor of the 90's era was popular for playing the lovely female protagonist in movies like Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahi, Sadak, Jaanam, Prem Deewane and Zakhm. She made her digital debut with 2021 Netflix series Bombay Begums where she played the role of a woman in power, the CEO of a bank, who is willing to go to any length in order to brush away her problems. Broken inside, regal outside, her role is no longer of the meek heroine but a powerful queen.
