Kapil Sharma's Former Co-Star Attempts Suicide, Accuses Girlfriend Of 'Extortion'

Tirthanand Rao, who co-starred in a comedy show with actor Kapil Sharma, made a live suicide attempt on social media. In the Facebook live video, Rao claimed his live-in partner of "blackmail" and "extortion."

During the Live, he was observed drinking some liquid from an insect-repellent bottle.

Rao during the live session said that he has been in a ‘live-in’ relationship with a woman, whom he met in October 2022. He further said that the woman ‘emotionally blackmails’ him and ‘extorts money’ from him.

“I am in debt of ₹3-4 lakh because of this woman. I have known her since October last year. She had filed a police complaint against me in Bhayandar and I didn’t even know for what reason," Tirthanand said in the video.

He said that he lived in Mumbai's Mira Road with his partner following the incident where he attempted suicide. He further added that he was rushed to a hospital however, he is now at home and fine.

Tirthanand also made an attempt to take his life in 2020 while Covid-19 was under lockdown. He stated that he had made the difficult decision to do so because he was in a dire financial situation at the time due to his inability to find employment.

Tirthanand had additionally stated to Aaj Tak that he ingested poison and was in critical condition, his family has abandoned him, and he is having financial difficulties. While being emotional he articulated that his brother and mother did not even visit him when he was admitted to the hospital, although they share a complex bonding but despite that, his family does not interact with him.

The 2016 season of Comedy Circus Ke Ajoobe included Tirthanand performing alongside Kapil. Tirthanand claimed that following his dispute with Sunil Grover, Kapil made him an offer for a character. Tirthanand was filming a Gujarati movie, thus he was forced to pass up the chance.
