The actor spoke out about the discrimination she faced for being transgender as she posted a video on Instagram that has now garnered widespread attention and sparked digital conversations calling for the urgent need for societal education on transgenders in India.

Who Is Pranit Hatte?

Hatte shared her disturbing encounter at a private hotel in Nashik, Maharashtra when she visited the city for an event. Hatte shared her sour experience of pre-booking a hotel room and claimed she was rejected to check in upon identifying her identity as transgender

In the video, Hatte expressed her anger and disappointment at the hotel staff's actions who allegedly cancelled her reservation despite having a confirmed booking and proper identification. She was denied the room solely based on her gender identification as transgender. Hatte also clarified that she was there simply seeking accommodation to attend an event and not for any wrong reasons

In the video message, Hatte underscored the need for a shift in the way transgender individuals are treated in society. She emphasised the importance of acceptance and respect for transgender individuals.

The incident sparked outrage online, with many netizens supporting Hatte and condemning the hotel's discriminatory behaviour. Many users suggest Hatte file a complaint as a user wrote: "File the case against HOTEL. it's cost ur dignity and Fundamental rights to live in dignity."

However, the actor's experience sheds light on the discrimination faced by transgenders is still prevalent in our society and how even individuals with much resources and fame go through it.

This incident is a call for action on stricter rules and actions against gender discrimination based on gender identity by any individual and a need to build a more inclusive and respectful society for all genders.

Hatte is an actor and dancer, known for her role as Ganga in the famous Marathi television series Karbhari Laybhari (2020) and has also appeared briefly in reality TV shows.
