Planning To Watch 83 On OTT? Here's What You Should Know

The cricket drama directed by Kabir Khan, 83 was released on December 24 and received widespread applause for its depiction of India's historic 1983 Cricket World Cup victory.

The film has Ranveer Singh in the lead role as veteran cricketer Kapil Dev who served as the captain of the India team during the tournament. Actor Deepika Padukone played the role of Dev's wife, Romi Bhatia and shared the screen with her husband Ranveer Singh.

83 OTT Release Date:

Since the theatres started closing down shortly after the film's release due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country, many fans have been hoping to catch the movie online. As per a report, the director Kabir Khan said that the movie will release on digital screens and television only after it completes a run of a minimum of eight weeks in theatres globally. Shibashish Sarkar, the Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment, the banner bankrolling the film, also confirmed the same. The film has been jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films.

The film was released in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu languages nationwide and is slowly inching towards the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office. Apart from Padukone and Ranveer Singh, the film also starred Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jatin Sarna, Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Punjabi singers Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk and other actors such as Aditi Arya.

The trailer of the film released in November received massive attention from the audience and was also played on the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. The lead actors, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh who happen to be married to each other were present to watch the trailer release.

Where To Watch 83 Online?

So far, the makers have not revealed as to where the film will be released on digital platform. However, some reports claimed that Netflix and Disney+Hotstar have acquired the post-theatrical digital rights of the film.
