Helen Jairag Richardson Khan was born to an Anglo-Indian father and a Burmese mother. She made her film debut with Awara in 1951 as a dancer. Her first non-dancing film was Hum Hindustani (1960). Helen made her name in the industry for her skills in dancing and was popularly known as H-Bomb during the 60s and 70s. In 2009, Helen was honoured with Padma Shri by the Indian government for her contributions to the Indian entertainment industry over the years.
