The phenomenon of adapting books into full-feature films has been ongoing for several years now. While some adaptions have not been able to live up to the book, some films have done justice to the fictional characters narrated in the story. The Hindi film industry has been following the process of book adaption for several decades dating back to 1965 released super hit film Guide starring Waheeda Rehman and Dev Anand. The guide was based on the novel The Guide written by celebrated writer R K Narayan. Over the years, films like 3 Idiots, Parineeta, Omkara and Haider have justified their respective adaptations well.
The coming year will see some popular Bollywood actors starring in intriguing roles in upcoming films that have been adapted from best-selling books.
