The 27-year-old actor gained widespread popularity after playing the role of IRS officer Shraddha Joshi in the biographical drama based on IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma's book. After the film's immense success, Shankar has also been titled 'National Crush' on the internet, with immense praise for her role, acting, and looks.
As per the sources, Shankr topped the IMDb search lists three times in January after the film's release on OTT streaming platforms. Shankr was on the top 10 most popular Indian celebrities list on IMDb, securing the top spot on the list twice in the month.
Announcing Shankr as its 'Breakout Star', IMDb wrote on its Instagram caption, presenting the award to Shankr for the film and highlighting the rise in her popularity noted on the website after her film 12th Fail.
The site that noted Shankr's earlier credits for her debut in the British miniseries Beecham House as Roshanara, Arshi in Shaadisthan, Eshawari Thakur in Dil Bekaraar, and Min in Max, Min, and Meowzaki also shared the rise in the actor's popularity after 12th Fail.
The caption of the announcement post read: "IMDb "Breakout Star" STARmeter Award is presented to stars who've broken out and caught your eye, leaving a mark on not only your hearts with their incredible work on screen but also your IMDb searches!" while Shankr can be seen holding a white glass IMDb trophy with a silver star on top of it.
The award has also been marked as the first noted award under the name of Shankr for her remarkable performance in her breakthrough film that left a lasting impression on the audience as the film garnered a 9.1 rating on the IMDb website.
As the film chronicles the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma's struggle to overcome poverty and crack one of the toughest exams in the country, UPSC, to mark his way to success triumphing over his struggles, Sharnkr played the role of the aspiring Deputy Collector, Shraddha Joshi who stood by Sharma's side through every thick and thin.
The success chronicle directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra stands tall, ranking #1 on the Top 250 Indian Films on IMDb, while Shankr has been replaced by the Animal star Tripti Dimri this week after the announcement of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
