Ray Anthology: Based on legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s stories, the upcoming anthology comprises four different stories. Ray also features prominent actors in the cast.
The Ray anthology is based on four stories written by Satyajit Ray. Niren Bhatt and Siraj Ahmed have adapted the stories for the screen with Sayantan Mukherjee as show runner. Actor Ali Fazal and Shweta Basu Prasad, who will be a part of the cast in the Ray anthology, said that it was an honour to be a part of Ray's world. Fazal even described Satyajit Ray as someone who created a “global impact”.
Fazal praised Ray’s valuable contribution to literature and cinema. "It is an honour to be a part of his universe, to be involved in a project that has such a strong connection with him,” the actor said in a statement.
Actor Basu also shared how Ray’s films were a huge part of her growing-up years. Basu also recalled how she would watch Ray’s films in her grandmother’s house. “ My first reaction when I heard about Ray was that of excitement. To me, being a part of a project that is named after India’s finest filmmaker is a pride,” she said.

Ray Anthology: 10 Things To Know
- Satyajit Ray, the writer of the stories for the anthology, is a revolutionary filmmaker and the creator of the iconic Feluda series. Ray is also celebrated for writing some of the best short stories India has ever seen.
- The four stories that will be adapted on screen are titled Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa, Forget Me Not, Bahrupiya, and Spotlight.
- The stories are said to center on themes of love, lust, betrayal, and truth. Ray is also said to explore "vulnerabilities and multiple shades of each character.”
- Ray features prominent Bollywood actors in the cast. Manoj Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, Kay Kay Menon, Harshvardhan Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Shweta Basu, Anindita Bose, Gajraj Rao, and Bidita Bag, among others, will be seen on screen.
- Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji, and Vasan Bala are the directors on board.
- Ali Fazal and Shweta Basu star in Forget Me Not, which is a segment of the anthology. Actor Fazal reportedly plays the character of Ipsit. Forget Me Not is directed by Srijit Mukherji.
- The upcoming anthology is produced by Ajit Andhare, Viacom 18, and Tipping Point.
- Ray also features stories by Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji, and Vasan Bala. “With Forget Me Not, we've drawn inspiration from him, his writings and tried to create a story that'll make you reminisce him while intriguing your thoughts," said the featured writers.
- The official teaser of the highly anticipated series was released on May 28.
