K-dramas are very addictive and a fresh break from the overwhelming dramas and mainstream media. Their storylines, mostly end well unlike Indian movies, most characters have the depth we yearn to see on screen in most series and their relatability to our relatively 'conservative' and traditional practices, especially when it comes to romance.
Here are 10 binge-worthy K-dramas you can watch this weekend:
1. Crash Landing On You
Out of all the series, Crash Landing On You is almost every K-drama watcher introduction to the genre. It is a perfect blend of comedy, romance and drama. The series shows the differences and struggles of love between South and North Korea. The story is tightly constructed and doesn't leave scope for any blank spots with it's heartwarming romance and the heartbreaking farewells. Through the course of the series, you will for sure feel every emotion- of love, of awe, of pain, it'll leave you with a pool of tears.
2. Start-Up
This K-drama, puts their female lead forward as a strong, creative and humble woman wanting to start her own company. The show brings an unexpected romance and individual stories of the characters coming together to create something magical and natural. The struggles and hardships of the characters were largely relatable, and being the person on the other side of the screen, you will start celebrating their victories as well (yes, you will certainly feel involved in their lives like you're living with them!).
3. Her Private Life
Before anything else in the story, the best part about it is the almost unreal level of chemistry which melts you quite often in the K-drama. The relationship develops almost as organically as in real life. That's the best part about K-dramas- they are so natural, they are so mundane and so human. The show is light-hearted, fun and almost cheeky. It might just give you an unrealistic expectation of how ideal a boyfriend can be (*heart eyes* at Ryan), but apart from that it should definitely be on your binge-watchlist.
4. Vincenzo
This K-drama show certainly deserved all the love it received on Netflix. Even though the show juggled with a lot of characters and narratives, the thriller progressively gets more thrilling, the elements of comedy occasionally lighten the mood with some crazy laughter. The story largely revolves around a mafia who is planning to bring a Palace down, but as serious as it sounds, you will find yourself wheezing on the jokes because of the chaos, and little moments of absolute dark humour.
5. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
The show promises one thing before anything else- to make you feel like you're on a vacation too (don't we all desperately need one right about now?). It fits your weekend plans to sit back and relax with probably a bag of chips (or green tea if your new year resolution is still being followed). The story that is set in a small town, with people matching the archetype of small towns- kind, helpful, eventually make you feel like home. While the progression of the narrative is slow, each episode makes sure to go on to the next one feeling warm, not an overwhelming amount of emotions.
6. Lovestruck In The City
It is one of the easiest light-hearted K-drama shows to binge on. The story consists of people who reply to the producers question, keep in mind, these characters have faced some kind of a burn-down in their romantic lives in the past. The main thrust of the show is going to be the romance between Jae-won and Eun-oh, it's almost like a Ross and Rachel dynamic in the show. But you will wish towards the end, that the story had more substance.

7. What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?
What's Wrong With Secretary Kim is broadly about a vice chairman and his secretary. The K-drama definitely brings the can't-wait-for-the-next-episode feeling to a viewer. While the story is somewhat the typical workplace drama story, it does have an element of excitement, of love adventures and the adorable moments between the leads. The show makes sure to keep the love notes high in their sweet vanilla love story and romance wrapped in humor that leaves in happy tears.
8. It's Okay To Not Be Okay
This K-drama show is unlike most other shows- it brings on a slightly darker, flip side of the coin kind of perspective. This show talks about the struggles and difficulties of people living and dealing with trauma and mental illnesses. It becomes slightly more real and brings a lot to unpack within a story that brings small elements to life. As a viewer, you feel so warm and proud to see the characters grow and cope. If you're in the mood to watch something that gives you some kind of food for thought, emotion and possibly some lessons, you have the perfect recommendation!
9. Descendants of The Sun
Most K-drama fans consider this show to be God's gift to the Korean drama industry. This show will make you develop a graceful interest in military/medical genres. The humor in the story is definitely subjective and wouldn't really intrigue everyone's senses. The musical ballads of the show is for sure a big part about what makes it special, it compensated for all the flaws in the storytelling. You will keep coming back for another episode and probably mess your sleep schedule up because of the amount of curiosity it ignites.
10. Squid Game
Last but not the least, highest grossing K-drama on Netflix. An action-packed, bloody and money oriented story set on a playground, really changes our initial thought from it being a child's play to go on to explore themes of organ trafficking and class-differences and their ugly sides. The main plot has a very compelling storyline that gives the right amount of background to characters that we understand what drives their actions. If you want to binge on this, an additional motivation fact- Squid Game beat Money Heist in its ratings on Netflix (hence, it's too damn good).
