Lunar Tithis of March: March is also known as the Phalgun month of the Hindu Lunar Calendar. Phalgun month is the 12th month of Hindu calendar and hence indicates an end of a lunar year. In April or the Chaitra month, Hindus celebrate the beginning of their new year. It is believed that Lord Govinda, a face of Lord Vishnu, is the presiding God of Phalgun month. Govinda etymologically means the protector of cows, lord of cows and the one who lifted the Govardhanagiri mountain with his little finger.
