A young man from Madhya Pradesh has been arrested for making the Sulli Deals App, which 'auctioned' Muslim women without permission and used their images by doctoring them. Aumkareshwar Thakur made this app on GitHub and shared it on Twitter earlier in 2021.
'Sulli Deals' and the recently created 'Bulli Bai' apps upload photos of Muslim women in a bid to trigger 'commentary' by the app's users. Most of these comments were derogatory and inappropriate. Both apps were built on Github.
In the light of the recent Bulli Bai app, there has been an uproar on social media and many reports have been filed with the police. There was also criticism about lack of enough
action by the police in the past cases around Sulli Deals that took place early 2021. And this time around the arrest has been swift and made in both cases - the current Bulli Bai case and the previous Sulli Deals app.
The accused, Aumkareshwar Thakur, was arrested by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) of Delhi Police in Indore in Madhya Pradesh. He is being called main mastermind in the Sulli deal app case.
Aumkareshwar Thakur 26 years old and studied at the IPS Academy in Indore.
