Zomato attack case: Zomato has suspended its delivery partner after one of its delivery man reportedly physically assaulted a Bengaluru woman. A content creator, Hitesha Chandranee had accused a zomato delivery man of physically assaulting her, after she complained about late delivery.  In videos shared on her social media on Wednesday, Chandranee showed her injured nose, accusing a Zomato delivery man of punching her in the face. He was later arrested by Bengaluru police.

Zomato responded to the incident and said, "We deeply regret the incident that happened between Hitesha Chandranee and the delivery partner in Bengaluru. We can assure you this is not the experience our delivery universe upholds. The case is currently under investigation by the police. We have extended our full support to help resolve this with our team on ground being on top of it."

The alleged argument between Chandranee and the delivery man took place over a delay in delivery on Tuesday. In the video, Chandranee, visibly shaking, pointed to her bloody and fractured nose and said, “So guys my Zomato delivery order was late and I was talking to the customer care executive. And meanwhile the delivery person just did this. He hit me, left me bleeding here and ran off.” Read the full story here

The company further explained that their officials have spoken to the beauty influencer and that the food delivery partner has been suspended following the incident. An investigation is also underway in the case. "We spoke to Hitesha as soon we got (news of) the escalation, met her and offered our complete support. We're in constant touch with her. As per our protocol, we've suspended the delivery partner from our platform pending investigation. Our team has been with him throughout and we'll ensure due process is followed," Zomato said in a statement.

After the video went viral, the food-delivery app's official handle on Twitter responded that a "local representative shall be in touch with you shortly to help you with the police investigation..."

The accused delivery man was taken into custody yesterday after the woman registered a complaint with Bengaluru’s electronic police station.
