The Mumbai Mayor also stated the guidelines to be followed for receiving COVID-19 vaccines. She said that people between the age of 45 and 60 years will be given priority in terms of receiving the second dose of the vaccine. Those aged between 18 and 44 years will receive vaccines only after they have registered for the same and received a message. "Vaccine centres will function as and when we receive vaccines," she added.

Kishori Pednekar further added that those who have registered on CoWIN app and received a message can go to vaccination centres. She requested people to not go to vaccine centres until and unless they have received a message even if they have registered themselves for vaccination. "If you have registered but have not received a message, don't go to the centre," she continued.

In February this year the Mumbai mayor distributed masks in the Dadar vegetable market and urged people to follow all COVID-19 protocols laid down by the government. "We are aware that people have to come out of their homes for their basic needs including buying vegetables, that is why we came here to distribute masks and urged them to use them, sanitise hands and maintain social distancing," she said to a leading daily. At that time, she also said that the awareness programme was carried out with the assistance of the Mumbai police because people were more scared of the police as compared to BMC marshals.
