Fundraisers For COVID-19 Relief: India is facing one of the worst health crisis in history. The country is facing an even bigger spike in the daily Coronavirus cases with each passing day. With the increasing cases, the lack of medical care like medicines and oxygen cylinders has become a major concern. Amid the crisis, everyone is coming forward to do their part and contribute their bit.
Several actors and singers from Bollywood have also come forth to help the people in need and help fight the deadly pandemic.
Take a look at the women in Bollywood who are hosting fundraisers to help fight the crisis.
Priyanka Chopra
Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas along with her husband Nick Jonas has teamed up with the GiveIndia Foundation to organise a fundraiser for India. Chopra and Jonas were seen in a video posted on the fundraiser's website talking about the rising COVID-19 cases and other lack of healthcare for the patients.
She also shared the video on her Instagram and was seen saying that there has been a sudden rise in the cases over the past month across the parts of India. Jonas talked about the increasing magnitude of cases in the country and said that so much is needed to stop the spread of the dreaded disease.
Earlier in April, the actor shared a video of herself urging people to help all who are affected by the virus. She also encouraged people to donate as much as they can.
"India is my home and India is bleeding. And we, as a global community, need to care," said the Quantico actor in her video.
Several Bollywood celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Parineeti Chopra, and Zoya Akhtar have also joined the fundraiser and have spread the word about it to their followers.
Anushka Sharma
Actor-producer Anushka Sharma has collaborated with the crowd-funding platform to start a fundraising campaign called "In This Together" aiming to raise Rs 7 crore to help the country fight the pandemic.
The actor along with her husband Virat Kohli has also contributed Rs 2 crore towards the initiative.
Launching the initiative she said they have been pained hugely looking at people suffering inexplicably and she hopes that the fund will aid people who are fighting against the virus. The Indian cricket team captain added that they are confident that people will come together to help and support fellow countrymen in crisis.
Lara Dutta
Bollywood actor and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta will host the "I Breathe For India" virtual fundraiser. The fundraiser will be joined by several other celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Samantha Prabhu, Genelia Deshmukh, Kriti Sanon, Faye D Souza, Anil Kapoor and many more.
The fundraiser will be organised on Sunday, May 9, from 6 to 8 pm.
Dutta talked about the initiative and said that she is honoured to be a part of it and she believes that it has given her purpose. The actor also added that she is determined to help the people of India to defeat the pandemic.
Shilpa Shetty
The Bollywood actor is continuously raising concern regarding hunger during the COVID-19 crisis. In an attempt to reduce hunger, she has initiated a platform called "Report Hunger - Khaana Chahiye Foundation" and is providing cooked meals or groceries to the needy with the help of her team.
Tulsi Kumar
Singer Tulsi Kumar has collaborated with Mission 5000 by Mission Josh to impact the lives of 5,000 people in the COVID-19 affected cities across the country. With the initiative, she aims to provide free oxygen concentrators to the patients at their homes. The campaign aims to raise Rs 5 crore for the initiative.
