Out-stationed students flock to the national capital for education purpose. Securing admission in one of India's most reputed Universities is like a dream come true for students who are covering a distance of miles from their home town to their dream colleges. Amid all the admission procedures, there is one thing which requires equal attention along with the admission process. That is, where would the students stay after securing admission? Especially, when it is about girls, security also becomes a concern. However, their choice may vary from a hostel and paying guest accommodation to a rented room or a flat.
Shethepeople.TV wandered around some girls' colleges of Delhi University to get to talk to some out-stationed girls and find out their preference.
“I am from Jaipur. I have secured admission in Gargi College. I am continuously persuading my father to let me stay in some rented room or 1-BHK flat. We have started searching for the same. I really want to stay independent right from the start and I think staying alone would make me responsible in every way,” said Megha Srivastav, a B.A Hons Geography course in Gargi College.
“I have secured admission in Delhi University but I am a very passionate human being. I love to explore, roam around, and do everything. We haven't decided yet where to stay in but I really excited to go through that process too. A few friends of mine have also secured admission in Delhi itself. Probably, we can all make some plan to shift in some Paying Guest accommodation,”
Swati Agarwal, an out-stationed student from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh said, “I had a large group of friends back in my home town. Also, I am very scared to stay alone in this new city. Since my college doesn't give us the hostel facility, I would want to stay in some Paying Guest accommodation. I love to always be in a company of some friends and my PG would perhaps help me with that. I am very excited to start afresh from here.”
“Though I am very excited that I have secured admission in this prestigious college on the other side, I am very afraid too. I don't know how I would manage in this big city. I don't even know the language that people speak here. Due to this, we even faced a lot of problems in the admission process. I am hoping to secure a seat in the hostel.” Ardra Rajan, from Kerala, who secured admission in the Lady Shri Ram College in South Campus said.

“I would like to stay in a flat because I am a very shy person. Not that I don't like talking to people but I hesitate while initiating a conversation. So, I think a flat would suit me well. I would shift to some other place if I don't feel comfortable there,” said Shrishti Khanna, who secured admission in Gargi College in B.A Hons Economic course.
