Who Is The Young Girl From The Viral Roti-Making Videos?

The unnamed viral roti girl is the latest big craze on the internet, with netizens smitten by her infectious smile. Videos of her surfaced in June this year - showing her making rotis, cutting vegetables, cooking - taking social media channels by storm.

Though multiple videos of her have garnered millions of views, courtesy Instagram pages dedicated to her, the young girl's identity remains unknown. Photos and videos show her dressed in traditional salwar suits with a dupatta covering her head and her eyes lined with kohl.

One account with over 45000 followers that posts about her has Patiala, Punjab tagged in its bio.

Viral Roti Girl: Appreciation Galore, But Questions Abound Too

Netizens have dubbed the roti-making girl the next Arshad Khan, after the Pakistani tea-seller who went viral in 2016 for his 'supermodel looks'. After becoming an internet sensation overnight, the blue-eyed chaiwala had received a stream of acting offers. Today, he runs a cafe in Islamabad.

While many are enamoured by the viral girl and her dazzling smile, several have questioned the ethicality of sharing videos of her on social media and using her for content, raising doubts on whether or not her consent has been sought.

There are also concerns over her engaging in cooking and other labour, since her age appears to be young. Instagram accounts @jasmeen_sainii and @ekiya5 are notably popular for sharing new videos of the girl routinely.
