There's a Biden-Carter photo doing the rounds on the internet. And, for good reason, it has left the social media population dumbfounded. The proportions of the people in the now-viral image, featuring the United States' current and former First Couples Jill and Joe Biden, and Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter, seem to be off.

Shared by The Carter Center, a not-for-profit founded by the former US President in 1982, the photo shows the two couples sitting two-and-twos beside each other in a nice, formal setting at the Carters' home in Plains, Georgia. Except, the Bidens appear to be looking oddly gigantic beside the older Carters.

This, despite the Bidens seated not at level with the Carters but kneeling on the floor. The former Democratic leader and his wife look unusually small, in the way the photo has been clicked.

Take a look:

As per BBC picture editor Phil Coomes, the amusing effect seems to have come about courtesy the use of a wide-angle lens. "This has resulted in those close to the edge of the frame being enlarged, whilst pushing back those in the middle," the publication says.

The Bidens kneeling on the floor and leaned slightly forward, as opposed to the Carters seated back on armchairs, has also apparently caused the distortion.

Biden-Carter Photo Sparks A Memefest. As Expected

The original photo has amassed over 78000 likes and become the object of scrutiny for the ever-vigilant Twitterati.

Expectedly, the internet got down to doing what it does best: memes. The Biden-Carter photo has sparked a photoshop fest with netizens having a gala time proportioning the image other ways.
