A new literary course at a Texas institution will include Taylor Swift's songwriting. Swift is a well-known American singer-songwriter. Chaucer, Shakespeare, and other writers and artists that students should hopefully become familiar with by the end of their studies will be replaced by The Taylor Swift Songbook, which will cover the gap.
The Taylor Swift Songbook will take the void and complete the schedule at the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) starting this fall. The course will use Taylor Swift's songwriting to introduce literary critical reading and research methods—basic skills for study in English literature and other humanities disciplines—according to a course description on the UTA website.

The course will teach literary critical reading and research methods—basic abilities for study in English literature and other humanities fields—using Taylor Swift's singing as its primary source of inspiration, according to a course description on the UTA website.
It began by stating that as they practise close and in-depth reading, evaluating secondary sources, and developing persuasive arguments while focusing on Swift's music and the cultural contexts in which it and her career are situated, they will take into account frameworks for understanding her work, including poetic form, style, and history among other various matters and theoretical issues important to contextualisation.
For those who are ready, preliminary texts include the albums Red (Swift's Version), Lover, Folklore, and Evermore. By presenting a course on Swift as a music entrepreneur and the various pop and country songwriters who affected her work, UTA carries on the legacy of New York University (NYU), which helped fans realise their biggest aspirations in the past.
Like Folklore, Evermore was released as a jaw-dropper album by Swift, who referred to them as sister albums. She referred to Evermore as a branch of "the folkloric woods," an alternative music genre with escapist, cottage core-inspired ideas that she initially developed while Folklore was in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. With fingerpicked guitars, cynical keyboards, lush strings, and sparse percussion, Evermore is a record that combines alternative rock, indie folk, and chamber pop genres.
