Swara Bhaskar Shares Pictures Of Heirloom Piece Of Jewellery, Remembers Her Nani

Swara Bhaskar Maangtika: In an emotional post on social media, actor Swara Bhasker shared pictures of an heirloom piece of jewellery she inherited from her Nani, maternal grandmother. In a long caption, the actor remembered her Nani recalling the time she inherited the jewellery.

Bhaskar shared that the maangtika she donned in her pictures was worn by her Nani when she was a 15-year-old bride. The actor wrote that her Nani was born in Banaras and was married at the age of 15 to a Naval officer from a Zamindar family of Bihar. She had given birth to four children at the age of 24. Even though she studied till Class 8, she made sure to send her kids abroad for education. "All four of my children are Ph.D' was her proudest boast, " Bhaskar wrote.

Bhaskar's grandmother died in 2017 and she was 61 years old. Bhaskar said that when her grandmother made her last journey, to the pyre, she was dressed as a bride again.

Bhaskar wrote, "There could not be a more committed wife, mother and grandmother than her. Or perhaps all our grandmothers were. That's all they were taught. "

Bhaskar's grandmother made sure to not constraint her daughters to marriage and motherhood like her. "After she passed her jewellery was passed on to her 3 daughters, 5 granddaughters and 1 daughter in law. I kept this 'maangtika' that adorned her head as a child bride. It's a bittersweet reminder of her life. It's a piece of my Nani."

Bhaskar had shared a heartfelt note earlier on her grandmother's death anniversary. The actor was last seen in Sheer Qorma. She is famous for her roles in Raanjhanaa, Nil Battey Sannata, Anaarkali of Aarah, Tanu Weds Manu and many other films.
