The year 2021 was tough for many of us. The impact of COVID-19 second wave was anyway making thousands and lakhs of people lose their life's battle and then there were people who died other sicknesses and the ones who ended their own lives.
The year saw many suicide cases of Indian shooters. Konica Layak, the famous international Shooter from Jharkhand was found dead in her hostel.
According to an officer from the Bally police station who spoke on the condition of anonymity informed that Layak, 28, became famous after actor-turned-philanthropist Sonu Sood gave her a new rifle this year for practising and training purposes, left a suicide note in which she wrote about failing to fulfil her parents' dreams.
After being accused of tampering with the target at the G V Mavalankar pre-national event in October, Layak was disqualified from the national championship.
Layak's training had been inconsistent, according to ESPN. She was allegedly stressed because she wanted to return to Dhanbad to finish her training. The suicide note, according to police, expressed her dissatisfaction with not being given sufficient opportunities.

Khush Seerat Kaur Sandhu
Khush Seerat Kaur, a 17-year-old shooter from Faridkot, Punjab, shot herself with a licensed pistol at her home.
The teen, Khush Seerat Kaur Sandhu, had won numerous national medals but was dissatisfied with her performance in the recently concluded 64th National Shooting Championship. She has numerous national and international medals to her credit. She began her career as a swimmer before branching out into shooting. She was also a gold medalist in the sub-youth women's 10m Air Pistol event.
She also placed fifth in the 25m pistol junior women final, which was won by Manu Bhaker, the 2018 CWG champion. Sandhu's father is a government school teacher, and her mother is a Punjab Agricultural University research scientist.
The incident took place on the ground floor, where her grandmother slept.

Hunardeep Singh Sohal
In October, Hunardeep Singh Sohal, a state-level shooter, committed suicide at his Vallah home. He shot himself in the head, explained police.
His family said he had been upset for the past two months after suffering an injury to his right wrist that damaged his nerves. He recovered from his injury, but he was depressed because he thought it was the end of his shooting career. The family was taken aback by the incident. Bhupinder Singh, his father, is a retired kanungo, and Sukarni Gill, his mother, is a retired government teacher. The family also owned farmland.
Namanveer Singh Brar
In September, Namanveer Singh Brar, a national-level shooter, was discovered dead in his Mohali home. A bullet struck the 28-year-old shooter. He won a bronze medal in the double-trap shooting competition at the World University Games in South Korea. In March of this year, he competed in the ISSF World Cup in Delhi in the Minimum Qualification Score (MQS) category. The death is still being investigated as a suicide or an accident.

Chandro Tomar
In April 2021, COVID-9 claimed the life of Chandro Tomar, better known as Shooter Dadi.The 89-year-old sharpshooter died after being treated for COVID-19 at Meerut Medical College. People all over the country admired the Indian shooter's audacity and knowledge and experience, despite the fact that she began the sport at the age of 65.
The movie "Sandh Ki Aankh,” is dedicated to her and her sister. On Twitter, tributes and condolences were paid to Tomar, as Indians appeared to be in mourning after his tragic death. Celebrities like Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, Akshay Kumar, and others took to their official social media accounts to express their feelings.
