Sex/Life: The Netflix drama which has quite a self-explanatory title has been creating a buzz for its third episode. While it is difficult to figure out what really gets social media raging on a subject, in this case, the show's intimate scenes can be the reason behind its sudden popularity.
Last year, Netflix gained a lot of noise for its film 365 Days. Although the film received a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it broke records like no other film in the year, according to a report. While viewers were convinced that the Michele Morrone and Anna‑Maria Sieklucka starring film was the most erotic content to have passed by the censor, Sex/Life apparently walked all over it.
What Is The Buzz About Sex/Life?
The romantic TV show stars Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel and Adam Demos in the lead roles. While the show throws light on women's sexuality and prioritises it regally, the storyline still feeds into the stereotype of women desiring "bad boys".
Shahi, as a means to re-experience her past, writes down her sexual exploits with her 'bad-boy' ex-boyfriend, Brad Simon (Demos) in her journal. However, the journal is discovered by her husband, who, to everyone's surprise, decides to use the book as an instructions manual to spice up their sex life, instead of feeling insecure about it.
The show can easily pass off as "soft porn" because of its explicit scenes and full nudity in every episode.
However, episode 3 of the said show, in a first, reportedly shows Brad's private parts. And Twitter could not stop talking about it.
While creator Stacy Rukeyser confirmed that they did not use a body double for the scene, she did not clarify the use of prosthetics for the same. Although a member of the prosthetics team confirmed to Newsweek the use of prosthetics was done during the episode, it wasn't mentioned if it was done on Brad's private parts. The question of whether it was real or fake seemed to concern many social media users
People usually ask is it real or is it a prosthetic? And I can tell you what Adam Demos says about it which is, a gentleman never tells. So, we are leaving that up to the viewer's imagination.
