Rosé set the Guinness World Record for being the first artist to reach number one on a Billboard Global chart as a solo artist and as a part of a group. Her second Guinness World Record was for the music video for her single “On The Ground” which premiered on YouTube on March 12. Rosé had announced her debut solo album R on March 12, 2021, with two lead singles. She also performed her single On The Ground on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The 24-year-old Rosé’s debut album R set the record for the highest first-week sales by a Korean female soloist. Rosé has signed with the label YG Entertainment in 2012 and trained there for four years before joining Blackpink.
Blackpink debuted their single album Square One in August 2016. They became the highest-charting female Korean act on the Billboard Hot 100 when they reached number 13 with their song Ice Cream. They also reached number two with their album The Album on the Billboard 200. Blackpink’s album The Album was their first studio album and it was the first album by a Korean girl group to sell more than a million copies.
Blackpink’s music video for the single How You Like That won two Guinness World Records. It holds the records for most viewers for the premiere of a video on YouTube and most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube.
