Being the world's richest and most successful people, the announcement of Bill Gates and Melinda Gates getting divorced has taken the internet by storm. According to the released statement, they will continue to work together for their foundation but will separate as they "no longer believe they can grow together as a couple."

• Bill and Melinda French Gates met in 1987 when Melinda started working at Microsoft, the company Bill founded. They met for the first time while attending a PC trade show in New York City.
• Although marriage was not their initial plan, their romance started getting serious after a while. In the Netflix mini-series Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates released in 2019, Bill Gates revealed that his main focus was Microsoft at the time and was not looking for a wife.
