The Uttar Pradesh government has now postponed the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2021 exam.
The postponement came due to the unprecedented rise in COVID-19 cases in the country. Earlier in the day, the news about the possible delay of the UPTET exam was doing the rounds. According to reports, the secretary exam regulatory authority had sent across a proposal to postpone the exam. The government then approved the proposal.
UPTET exam was supposed to be conducted in July
The notification for the examination was going to release on May 11 and was scheduled to be conducted on July 25. The application process for the examination was supposed to start on May 18 and conclude on June 1. This is according to the schedule which was released by the UP Basic Education Department in March.
UPTET is an examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). It is conducted in order to determine the eligibility of teachers in the state's government schools.
The exam is conducted for two papers. Paper I is for the applicants who will apply for Class 1 to 5 whereas Paper II is for the applicants of Class 6 to 8.
The rise in the COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh forced the government to announce a lockdown. In a situation like this, very few aspirants have managed to apply online for the examination. A large number of them have not been able to apply for the exam as they can't visit cyber cafes because of the lockdowns and curfews in the state.
Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) exams delayed
Meanwhile, the rise in the COVID-19 cases has also led to the postponement of several other exams as well. Recently, the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) had to postpone its OMR/CBT exams. They were scheduled to be conducted between May 24 to May 31 2021.
