UPSC Exams: What's Allowed, What's Not Allowed?

UPSC IFS main exam timetable is out. For those appearing for the first time, here's what you need to know about what the exam permits and what the rules are. The UPSC IFS main exams will begin on February 28, 2021 with General English and General Knowledge papers. The last paper will be conducted on 7th March, 2021.

Marking

Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

Writing & Pens

For both writing and marking answers in the OMR sheet , candidates must use black ball pen only

Pens with any other colours are prohibited. Do not use Pencil or Ink pen

Use of Mobile Phones

The use of any mobile phone (even in switched off mode), pager or any electronic equipment or programmable device or storage media like pen drive, smart watches etc. or camera or blue tooth devices or any other equipment or related accessories either in working or switched off mode capable of being used as a communication device during the examination is strictly prohibited.

Regular Watches

Use of normal or simple wrist watches by candidates is allowed inside the Examination Rooms/ Halls.

Disciplinary Action

Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.

No Banned Items

Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangement for safe-keeping cannot be assured. Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard
