Students of classes 8th, 9th, and 11th to be promoted without examinations
The decision to postpone the examinations came after the CBSE cancelled board examinations for class 10 and postponed them for class 12. Before the decision to cancel the exams was taken, a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal took place. The examinations were cancelled in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the demands calling for the cancellation of board exams.
In a COVID-19 review meeting with Rajasthan's State Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, it was decided that the state board examinations will be postponed for the safety of the students.
Dotasra stated that “It is necessary to conduct class 12 board examination as students have to appear for college admission. We can conduct the class 12 board examination once the situation becomes normal and will also decide about class 10 board examination during that time.”
RBSE announced that the exams were postponed two days after it stated that board exams and Rajasthan Eligibility Examinations for Teachers (REET) would be conducted as per schedule. The RBSE had decided to promote the students of class 6 and 7 on April 13. Students of class 6 and 7 will be promoted by the state board based on internal assessments that will be conducted by the respective schools.
On April 4, the Rajasthan government announced that schools for classes 1 to 9 would be shut down till April 19. Colleges in Rajasthan have also been shut down for all students except for the students in their final year.
