NTA JEE Main 2021 Application Process Begins From Today

Education Minister said the engineering entrance will be held in multiple shifts from next year — February, March, April and May. The candidates can download the application from the website- jeemain.nta.nic.in

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has released the schedule for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021. The minister said the engineering entrance will be held in multiple shifts from next year — February, March, April and May.

The candidates can download the application from the website- jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Main will also have a new exam pattern. The candidates have to attempt 75 questions out of 90 – or 25 out of questions 30 in each section of chemistry, physics and mathematics.

NTA informed that the change in the question paper format is introduced in order to accommodate school boards that have reduced class 11 and 12 syllabus and those that have not.

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal in his tweet informed, “Thank you all for sharing your constructive suggestions regarding JEE (Main) exams. We have got your suggestions examined. I will be announcing the schedule, number of times the exam will be held at 6 PM today. Stay tuned.”

The Joint Entrance Examination Mains and Advanced are the admission tests for IITs, NITs and GFTIs across the country. JEE(Main) is the qualifying exam for the IIT admission test -- JEE Advanced. This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the April session of JEE Main was postponed twice and was held finally in September, following government guidelines.

In 2020, a total of 8.58 lakh candidates had registered for the JEE Main exam. Out of these only 74 per cent of them had appeared for the exam.

Last year, NTA had announced JEE Main exam dates in August. Registrations for the January exams were started from September 2.

Previous Announcement by Education Minister

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ in October announced that JEE Main will be conducted in more regional languages, starting from 2021. This was a move in order to help a larger group of students. Currently, the entrance test is offered in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
