ICSE Class 10 Board Exam Cancelled: The board examinations for the Class 10 ICSE board have been cancelled due to the "worsening situation" of the COVID-19 pandemic across the country.
The board had previously made the examination for class 10th optional but has cancelled the exam altogether today.
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) board previously released a statement postponing the board examinations of class 10 and 12 when the COVID-19 cases in the nation saw a huge surge. The board had to rethink its decision due to requests from students and parents.
In a circular, the board said that their topmost priority is the safety and wellbeing of the students and teachers and hence it has decided to cancel the board examinations for Class 10.
The new dates for the board exams of the ISC board for Class 12 will be announced in the month of June after a meeting with the officials.
The examination for Class 12 will be held when the condition of COVID-19 improves in the country similar to the decision of the CBSE board. CBSE board has also previously released a statement cancelling the board examinations for Class 10.
CISCE said that the marking for Class 10 students will be done by fair and unbiased criteria, and the dates for the results will be announced later. The admission for Class 11 and online classes for the same must begin in all the schools affiliated with the board.
The examinations for Class 10th were previously scheduled to happen from May 4 to June 7.
The cancellation of the exams by the board is the result of the grim records and unprecedented spike in COVID-19 cases in the second wave of COVID which has been reported to be even deadly. India has been recording over 2 lakh daily COVID cases for 6 consecutive days.
