Gauhati University online exam: Due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in Assam, Gauhati University has now decided to conduct the UG and PG examinations in the online mode.
This decision was made by the varsity authorities with all the stakeholders on Friday. "After threadbare discussion on the matter and taking into account the current situation, the meeting decided that all pending examinations will be held in Open Book System in the online mode only,” Registrar of Gauhati University informed in a statement.
A meeting for the same was chaired by the University's Vice-Chancellor Professor Pratap Jyoti Handique. It was attended by the General Secretaries of Gauhati University Teachers’ Association, Assam College Principals’ Council, Assam College Teachers’ Association, all the heads of the Teaching Departments of the university, along with many others.
The exams for the postgraduate students will start from June 1, and get over by June 15. As for the undergraduate students, their exams will commence from the second week of June.
Meanwhile, a committee has been framed to give all the necessary suggestions to the Controller of Examinations. The registrar of Gauhati University announced that a notification regarding the SOP for the online exams will be published by the Controller of Examinations.
Gauhati University Suspends All Offline Classes
Earlier, the University announced that all physical classes will be suspended between April 27 to May 11. Besides this, all the students residing in hostels of the university were told to vacate the premises due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.
All the teachers and faculty members have been working from homes. According to the official notification, all the essential services in the university will remain unaffected.
