• Woman Takes Husband To Court Over Porn Addiction

A woman from Mumbai has taken her husband to court for his alleged addiction to pornography. According to her petition filed in the Supreme Court, “Her matrimonial life has been destroyed as her husband became addicted to online pornography.”

Her petition also demands that the court ask the Centre to take immediate steps to ban such obscene websites on the internet.

You will remember that in 2015, the government had indeed planned to block about 857 pornographic sites but the ban was then partially lifted because of the outrage shown by many sections of the population. Child pornographic sites are still ordered to be blocked under Supreme Court’s orders.

The woman, who filed the petition, goes on to express her distress by addressing her fear of what these obscene websites could do to corrupt the minds of children. Times of India quotes the petitioner, “Easy access of violent and hardcore porn websites is causing immense damage to family values in India. People of all ages are becoming perverted and morally bankrupt due to porn addiction. My husband is in his advancing years but still he has gone astray due to porn addiction, imagine what this addiction can do to the innocent minds of youth and children.”

Her argument states that her if husband, who is a well-educated individual and in his advancing years, can get obsessed with such an activity, then one imagine the impact it can have on growing individuals.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court has been working towards banning all child pornography websites and activities which will hopefully prevent children from being sucked into the menace of human trafficking. The court had also made it clear that non-compliance of this order will not be accepted at all,  especially if the reason presented was of “technical difficulty in banning such sites”.
