As the number of female entrepreneurs is growing, the world is taking notice of them. In a new, the Women and Child Development Ministry has announced to build a national-level advisory council for women entrepreneurs. The aim of this council would be to focus on the problems being faced by them and delegate those problems to the government for advices. Maneka Gandhi declared this news after releasing the draft National Policy for Women 2016 yesterday.

Meet Women Entrepreneurs Of India

“For years I have been watching ASSOCHAM and FICCI and both of them are really male-dominated with two bankers as women representatives. Where are the women...they only are the wives and form subsidiary committees,” said Gandhi to TOI

"So, we thought of making a strong advisory council to the government made only of women which advices government on entrepreneurship, work timings, unorganized sector and other things like that," she added.

Gandhi anticipates that the Council will be up and working within a year. According to her, it will come out of the ‘E Mahila Haat’ website, which was recently launched by the ministry in order to create more women entrepreneurs by giving them a place to sate their goods. The website currently has women entrepreneurs in thousand and they have already sold about 2.5 lakh items through the website in a span of two months as the website was started in March.

Maneka Gandhi Says Trolling Should be Punishable

Gandhi said that once the website gets sellers in lakhs, which she predicts will happen in the next four to five months, every seller will have a vote. And whichever state or district has the highest number will be forming the council.

The initiative will definitely help women entrepreneurs have their own voice in the male-dominated country that India is. A great step by WCD, it will not only regulate a sector of women entrepreneurs, but will also help in increasing the number that does not look so great as of now.
