Here’s a cute yet threatening letter an eight-year-old has written to her father, which has garnered widespread attention on social media.

Joel Berry, a renowned author and managing editor of a satirical website called The Babylon Bee, recently shared a photo of a handwritten note by his eight-year-old daughter on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Father Gets "Threat" Letter From 8-Year-Old

Posting a picture of the letter, Berry wrote, “A mailman who looked suspiciously like my 8-year-old put this in my mailbox this morning.”

The message written in childish handwriting with engaging spelling errors seems to have been drafted by his little girl. The cover read, “Joel Berry ergent mail open emedietly” on the cover.

The note inside the envelope read, “Dear Joel Berry, for your kid, you must let them watch Iron Man tonight or you will be killed.” The letter was signed by "Govormet." The catchy detail was that “or you will be killed” was written in a very tiny font.

Berry later wrote in a follow-up tweet that he was torn between allowing them to watch it and imparting a crucial lesson about not complying with illegitimate government orders in our household.

The photo of the handwritten letter since being shared has garnered over five million views and over 81.6k likes. Thousands of messages from netizens who adored the letter flooded the comment section.

Adorable Comments

One user suggested that Berry should think about framing and displaying this at home, as it’s seldom that one comes across such unadulterated delight and beauty. Echoing the same suggestion, another user asked him to consider framing it as an object of pure beauty and joy. In response to such comments, Berry said that he was definitely “keeping it for life.”

Eventually, Berry revealed in a subsequent post that they did end up watching Iron Man later that night. He posted a photo of the film playing on their television and captioned it, “The government won this round.”
