The accused, who was identified as Rajiv, was arrested after the woman, who works as the ground staff at the Indira Gandhi International airport, filed a complaint against him at the Delhi Cantonment police station.

The incident took place at 5:30 pm on Tuesday. After the woman got into the car, the driver took a wrong route, and threw her handbag out of the car after she started protesting. Officer Dependra Pathak said that the cab driver asked her to get out of the cab near the Delhi Cantonment Area.

The case was registered under sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code.

This is not the first time Uber drivers have come under fire for misbehaving with their passengers in India as well as in the US. The most recent case was that of an Uber driver stabbing his passenger because his 'car was disrespected' in Detroit, US.

At the same time, it is important that women report every case like this, just as this woman did.
