From Kolkata, Pritha was returning home in Kormangala when the incident took place on 7th June. "As I took the service road towards Sarjapur Road and walked down towards my home, I was on a call over my mobile phone. I took the left lane from 13th main road to reach my destination and noticed a man following me. When I stopped, he too stopped immediately. I started walking faster with my phone on and came to the main road as soon as possible. Suddenly, the man came up to me and tried to snatch my bag. I pulled it back but he snatched my mobile phone and ran away," Pritha said as per a report in the Bangalore Mirror.

"A gang of three people — one man and two women — joined the thief later requesting me not to file a police complaint, but with the help of the public, we got them all into a passing Hoysala patrolling van. It is my humble request that the police increase patrolling here; I managed to handle the situation that day, but it might not be possible for others to do the same," she added.

Mobile theft and purse snatching is now rampant in the IT city,  and many reports have been lodged over the last few months for the same. Most of the time, the criminal manages to escape but this incident got attention from locals and became an example for Bangaloreans. Last month, Sharada BR, 50, a resident of Chandra Layout, was had faced similar situation when a man came from behind and grabbed her gold mangalya chain. But the bold woman used her broom to beat him up and the robber reportedly quit and run from the spot.

Ladies, this is not the time to stay still. Stay alert and take notice of your surroundings. These stories indeed tell you that determined women can take charge of situations. Keep a watch
