Oprah Winfrey, Founder, Harpo Productions and Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN)
She has lost oodles of weight and at the age of 50, she has a strict exercise regime to maintain it. Oprah stays fit following a routine of Cardio exercises and meditation everyday before she goes for work. This includes 45 minutes of cardio six mornings a week, four to five strength-training sessions a week, incline crunches, and stretching. Other than running and exercising, she maintains a diet in which refined flours, potatoes, sugar and alcohol do not find a place. She eats whole grains and does not eat after a certain time of the day.
Condoleezza Rice, American political scientist and diplomat
The fitness plan of the 51 year old diplomat is not for the faint hearted. And here is why. Rice is an early riser, waking up at 4.30 am every morning. Then she heads to the gym. Her routine includes 40 minutes of cardio exercise daily, often on a treadmill or elliptical trainer. Even when she travels for work, she schedules her routine in such a way that she doesn’t miss her exercise regime. She sets her paces with a few minutes’ warm up – may be spinning on a bicycle and then some crunches, and finally calls the day off (exercise-wise) with some free weights on her shoulders. Her diet includes low-fat and balanced meals. Green vegetables aren’t her favorite and she admits having broccoli forcefully.
Anna Wintour, Vogue editor-in-chief and Condé Nast Artistic Director
She is 65 but shows no signs of slowing down and here is why. One of the most well known and successful magazine editors in the world, Anna starts her day at 5.45 am by playing tennis for an hour at New York’s Midtown Tennis Club. Then she burns her stress away with some quick primping process at home before those unlimited meetings at office for the rest of the day. To maintain a proper diet she eats freshly cooked steak from a top restaurant for lunch in her office every day. Anna says that the routine keeps her disciplined and energised throughout the day.
Michelle Obama, The First Lady of United States of America
Not every first lady can drop to the floor and do 25 straight push ups on a television show. But Michelle Obama did, all thanks to her rigorous daily work out schedule which includes at least 45 minutes of cardio everyday. The daily routine is also divided into parts which include jumping rope, doing pullover crunches and plyometric jumps, lifting weights as instructed by her personal trainer, and kickboxing with a punching bag. She celebrated the fifth anniversary of the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign( a campaign to raise awareness about healthy living in the United States) by releasing her workout video as part of the #GimmeFive challenge. The lady is a health preacher for sure!
Arianna Huffington, President & Editor in Chief, Huffington Post Media Group
One of the busiest professionals in the world, Arianna starts her day not by looking at the smartphone, but with a deep breath and an hour of meditation. She ends her day with a hot bath at the end of the day, which recharges her. She maintains a healthy diet of grilled fish and vegetables and prefers fish oil, vitamin D, and Chinese herbs to boost her immune system while traveling. She chooses to do regular workouts and walking meetings. Sleep is a non negotiable for her. She believes that getting 8 hours of sleep is necessary to being energized throughout the day.
Moral of the story? Busy schedules should not hold us back in our quest for fitness. So what are you ladies waiting for? Time to get into your exercise gear and sweat it out!
