Travelling always gives you a chance to come out of your comfort zone and manage life and needs. It teaches the essence of living with a minimalist approach. With travelling, I also learned to come out of my self-imposed introvert outlook. In addition, one never knows where and in which part one finds a true friend or an inspiring story narrated by a complete stranger can impact your approach towards life.

Most memorable trip

I had travelled to Vienna, Austria all alone for the first time ever in my life. Earlier, I use to find Indian traveller's to accompany me. However, this time, it was a solo trip. I am introvert by nature, therefore, I have to stay in the city all by myself, managing all my needs and short travels. The feeling of being in a new, beautiful city of Europe, excited me to explore it to the fullest. The travelling started using local U-Bahn and S-Bahn (subway and trams) exploring the charming city blanketed in the snow. I visited famous churches, snow covered Schönbrunn Palace and its zoo, famous visitors' street, cafes and much more.

Chatting up with strangers

It was the first time, I was exploring the city all by myself, that too during winters when it was snowing there. While exploring palace and church and the many streets, I had a chance to talk to a group of aged women (above 85), who were hanging out to breathe in the fresh air and warm-up themselves with a walk. It was encouraging to see them enjoying the icy weather and sharing their travel stories, which included travel to India during 1950's.

My  One Travel Advice

I shall advise to work on the travel details and itinerary by oneself. It prepares one to approach to a new place with the knowhow of working hours of the locals, the holidays and off days of the week, and more such useful information.

Emotions that places evoke

Travelling to a new place has its own charm. There are always unexplainable emotions especially the excitement which cannot be negated. In addition, I always encounter the burst of emotions such as peace, happiness, joy, awe, a sudden quietness in the mind, gratitude; when I encounter a beautiful scenic place.

Recently, I travelled to Bali with my nine-month-old daughter. It was the most challenging trip for me. I did most of the planning beforehand. I was also introducing solids to my baby, which was completely homemade and Indian food. So the challenge was to travel with baby food that too Gluten-free (I have celiac disease, therefore I have introduced wheat or gluten by-products to her). The technology /e-commerce /online portals and new start-ups were a big help to me. I took instant khichdhis, porridges, organic fruit purees, eco-friendly diapers and extra clothes, etc. with me.

This trend of work, earn, travel, enjoy and sleep seems to be the recent wave. This approach has been ebbing since the past few years among youngsters.

However, with a baby any planning can fail as she or he cannot express and parents can only guess what can soothe her. It was also the first time ever that I had to feed my exclusively breastfed baby in public as she was extremely cranky because of air pressure, unknown people, unknown voice etc. Travel teaches one to leave the comfort zone and my baby also took that lesson, so, therefore, the return flight was a little easier for us. Such challenging situations kept arising every day while a busy and beautiful city was to be explored. However the ocean, water, waves helped me soothe her many times and gave me many enjoyable moments along with her. I am looking forward to more such travels along with her now, which will be challenging but adventurous too.

A recent trend which has caught up
