World no. 1 doubles pair Sania Mirza-Martina Hingis did it again. By keeping their winning streak intact, Sania-Martina maul unseeded Russian pair Daria Kasatkina and Elena Vesnina, scored 6-4, 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy.
It’s their 38th straight win after competing and winning against the Indo-Swiss team Jelena Ostapenko and Evgeniya Rodina, won by 7-5, 7-5 in Ladies Trophy first round on Thursday at Saint Petersburg.
Following which ‘Santina’ is now only 7 matches away from breaking Jana Novotna and Helena Sukova’s all-time record of 44 in 1990.
However, the duo was in an attacking mood from the second the game started as the Russians were incapable to match up their form. In an unbeatable spree, ‘Santina’ already has earned eight titles in a row- the five straight titles in 2015, starting from the US Open and before the Australian Open now.
To record an unbreakable triumph and to fix a spot in the final, on Saturday, Sania-Martina will fight against Spaniards Anabel Medina Garrigez and Arrantxa Parra Santonja.
