• Rio 2016: Sakshi Malik in quarters, Vinesh injured in quarters, bows out of the Olympics

Mixed day for Indian wrestling. Post her entry into the round of 16, #SakshiMalik wrestled Mariana Cherdivara-Esanu of Moldova in the pre-quarters bout at the Olympics.  And she emerged victorious.  At the end of the match, it was in a tie condition, but Malik won thanks to a single-largest score of 4 points in the match, with the score at 5-5 and 19 seconds left on the clock.

At the start of the match, Malik trailed 0-3 initially after the first period against Mariana but soon she turned it around, and led with 5-3. Mariana the fought back to make the score even, but it was Malik’s lucky day at the Olympics.
