There was no stopping Sindhu in this deciding game. Sindhu struggled a tad in the middle when the Korean made an aggressive comeback post the interval.
The three-game women’s singles semi-final was hard fought but the third round was paced and solid for Sindhu who recovered form after the 10th point in the third game. Although Sung Ji Hyun of Korea picked the second round, Sindhu strategically played the third to win. She will now play Rio 2016 Olympics gold medallist Carolina Marin on Sunday.
In the quarterfinals, Sung Ji Hyun beat defending champion Ratchanok Intanon while Sindhu thrashed fellow Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal’s game. Both players won in straight games.
