According to the reports, this centre would solve the overdue problems and issues which will be received at the Women Power Line and would not further be diverted to Delhi or neighbouring cities. Not only that, the new centre will take responsibilities of Ghaziabad and other neighbouring districts of UP which till now were under the power line in Lucknow.

The line has been helpful in the following ways:

  • The victim or her relative can lodge the complaint free of cost, keeping her identities anonymous.
  • The complainer would not directly face any hassles at a police station, and the FIR would be registered by a woman police officer who sends it forward for investigation.
  • In the process, the call centre keeps in touch with the complainant till the end of the case.
  • Till now, the helpline has solved around 4 lakh security issues of women in the state.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a total of 3.37 lakh incidents of atrocities against women were registered in 2014 of which Uttar Pradesh alone registered a total of 38,467 cases (11.4%).
