To the woman's disappointment, even her mother-in-law accompanied the couple on their honeymoon as her husband changed the destination on his mother's wish to visit Ayodhya before the Ram Mandir consecration held on January 22. The woman alleged she wasn't informed before booking the flights for the pilgrimage cities where her husband was paying more attention to her parents only.

Woman Seeks Divorce After Husband Ditches Goa Honeymoon For Ayodhya:

The woman in her petition said that her husband earns well in an IT company and she draws a good salary as well, and hence she expressed her wish to go overseas for a romantic getaway which her husband denied reasoning he cannot leave his parents alone for an abroad trip.

However, going abroad was not a big deal financially, taking into consideration her husband's reasoning for refusing to fulfil her wish, the couple came on common grounds deciding Goa and South Indian states for a romantic honeymoon getaway.

The woman then in her petition claimed that his husband promised her a honeymoon to Goa and booked tickets for Ayodhya and Varanasi without even informing her. The husband allegedly told her about the change in plans a day before the trip telling her they must visit the pilgrimage sites as it is his parent's wish to go to Ayodhya before Ram Mandir's consecration.

While the wife accompanied her husband on the trip, the unexpected change of plans left her feeling disappointed and disrespected. Upon returning from Ayodhya, just 10 days later she filed for divorce, citing a breakdown of trust and communication as the primary reasons.

The woman also claimed that her husband was taking care of his family members more on their honeymoon and Adv Shail Awasthi informed the couple are now seeking counselling.

Why This Issue Needs To Be Talked About?

The news of this unusual divorce petition has sparked debate and discussion in India. Some netizens sympathise with the wife, arguing that the husband's actions were inconsiderate and deceitful. Others defend the husband, pointing out the importance of familial piety and religious obligations in Indian culture.

The case also raises questions about the evolving dynamics of modern marriages in India. With changing gender roles and expectations, couples are increasingly navigating a delicate balance between individual aspirations and family commitments.

Experts believe that open communication and mutual respect are key to navigating such challenges. They advise couples to discuss expectations clearly and honestly before tying the knot and to prioritise open communication throughout their marriage.

Whether this particular case ends in divorce or reconciliation remains to be seen. However, it serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the importance of understanding and respecting each other's needs and desires, especially during the crucial initial stages of marriage.
