Who is Nadia Fettah Alaoui? Morocco's New Minister of Economy and Finance

Since 2019, Nadia Alaoui Fettah has been part of Saad Eddine al Otmani's Cabinet as Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport, and Social Economy.

Nadia Fettah Alaoui has been recently appointed to the position of Minister of Economy and Finance of Morocco. She is the first Moroccan woman to work in this department.

Fettah Alaoui was earlier Saham Assurance SA's Executive Officer and Representative Director. She is a member of the International network of women corporate directors and the founder and treasurer of Morocco's Club of Women Board Members. She joined politics in 2019.

Nadia Fettah Alaoui’s Professional Life

Fettah Alaoui previously worked for Alfen Conseil as Managing Partner and Financial Advisor, as well as in CNIA SAADA Insurance as General Manager in charge of the Finance and Support Services Division. Fettah has been the Finance and M&A Director at Saham Group since 2013. She began her career as an Arthur Andersen consultant in Casablanca in 1992.

She joined Axa Insurance Morocco in 1997 and played a key role in bringing the Life & Health Division up to ISO standards. In the year 2000, she founded and led Maroc Invest Finance Group, Casablanca, a Moroccan firm that specialises in investment funds and corporate finance and is a subsidiary of the Turninvest Group. In 2005, she rejoined the insurance industry as the General Director of CNIA's Support and Finance Division.

 In 2010, she started her career in corporate financial advice by assisting Saham Group with mergers and acquisitions. From October 30, 2015, to November 8, 2016, she served as Chairman of Continental Reinsurance Place and as a Director of the company from September 11, 2015, to November 8, 2016.

Her Educational Background and Achievements

Fettah Alaoui earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales in Paris, France. She was named to the inaugural list of Avance Media's 100 Most Influential African Women in 2019.

Political Career

Since 2019, she did function in Prime Minister, Saad Eddine al Otmani's Cabinet as Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport, and Social Economy. She was appointed to this position in October of 2021. After 22 years in consulting, finance, and insurance, the former CEO of Saham Finances Morocco was appointed Minister of Tourism by the Moroccan government in 2019.

Personal Life

Fettah Alaoui is a married and a mother of two children. Minister Fettah Alaoui belongs to the National Rally of Independents. Her expertise is needed in sectors severely impacted by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and she is regarded as a highly capable woman in financial management.
