Who Is Diksha Dagar? Indian golfer, Diksha Dagar, qualified for the Olympics at the very last moment and left for Tokyo on Saturday.

Dagar's qualification boosted women's golf competition in the Olympics. She was given a late entry in the golf challenge at the Olympics beginning on August 4th. Before departing for the Japanese capital Dagar said that representing India in Asian Games and Olympics is a dream come true for her. The 20-year-old aims to win a medal for India with her hard work and dedication. 

Who Is Diksha Dagar?

Diksha Dagar is a hearing-impaired Indian female professional golfer, who has achieved several accolades in her field. Dagar made a name for herself in the game in November 2015 after she became the leading amateur ladies golfer in India.

Dagar first represented India in the 2017 Summer Deaflympics where golf was included for the first time, Dagar competed in the women's golf event winning a silver medal.

The 20-year-old also represented India at the Asian Games in 2018. She also became the second Indian female golfer after Aditi Ashok to win the Ladies European Tour and also secured the position as the youngest Indian woman to win the tour at the age of 18. 

Dagar started playing golf at the age of seven, along with her hearing-impaired brother, Yogesh Dagar. Narinder Dagar, the father of the 20-year-old coached her.

Dagar received a surprise invitation to participate in the women's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics from the International Golf Federation. The invitation was followed by a late withdrawal of South African golfer Paula Reto.

Dagar on her part expressed her gratefulness towards the Indian Army, the Sports Authority of India, and the Ministry of External Affairs for their support. As she mentioned that she's grateful for the people and organisations who supported and trusted her.
