The Netflix original historical drama The Crown is about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The show has kept the audience glued to the screens since episode 1. After the release of season 4 the fans are busy speculating the story line about further seasons. It is difficult to contain the excitement since very little official announcements have been made of future seasons. And here we are to answer major questions about The Crown season 4.

When will it return to Netflix?

Season 4 will likely to be premiered by the end of this year. Following the same pattern where season 1 aired in 2016 and season 2 in 2017.

What will be the Cast?

The cast from the previous season will reprise their respective roles and will portray the older age along with most of the third season's cast. The show recast its main characters to update for aging.

Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret will continue.

According to the creators, new members will be seen in the upcoming season. As announced in April 2019 by Netflix, Emma Corrin would play Princess Diana, Gillian Anderson will play Margaret Thatcher. The audience has been excited to know about these two historical figures.

Crown season 4 assumed Plot

The 4th season will portray the incidents from 1977 until around 1990. Episodes might be about the disputes between Queen and Margaret Thatcher over apartheid in South Africa, the 1984-5 mining strike, and the 1982 Falklands War.

All this is just conjecture seeing the timeline. Considering the timeline the fourth season of the Crown could also include the incident of 1981, in which six shots were taken at the Queen during the trooping of colors. The season might also include the incident invading the Queen’s room by Michael Fagan- The Buckingham House intruder.

Season 5

As announced by Netflix and the creator by Peter Morgan. In the next season the role of Queen Elizabeth II will be played by Imelda Staunton. "At the outset I had imagined The Crown running for six seasons, but now that we have begun work on the stories for season five, it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop," Peter Morgan told The Hollywood Reporter. "I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision." The season might premier in the end months of 2021.

Story of season 5

The story of season 5 might take the audience into the early decades of the 2000s. This is the time that covers important royal events like Prince Charles and Princess Diana's divorce in 1996. Those episodes may also look at Princess Diana's death the following year. Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother both died in 2002.

The wait is long but worth it. We can't wait for more.
