Another NEET Aspirant Suicide In Kota: Graveyard Of Dreams

A 20-year-old NEET aspirant from West Bengal died by suicide in his rented accommodation in Rajasthan's Kota. This suicide case marks the 28th incident of a coaching student this year in Rajasthan's Kota

A 20-year-old NEET aspirant from West Bengal was found dead inside his room late Monday evening as the police found the student hanging by the ceiling. His friends raised the alarm after he was not seen for 24 hours and was not responding to their calls and the landlord called the police after several unresponded knocks.

There have been two such cases in a day where 20-year-old students from Kota, Rajasthan committed suicide in the span of a week, taking the suicide rate to the highest since 2015 as the number of suicides in the coaching hub of India has reached 28.

NEET Aspirant From West Bengal Died By Suicide In Kota, 28th Of This Year:

Faureed Hussain, a 20-year-old NEET aspirant from the Birhum district of West Bengal was found dead in his rented accommodation in Kota, Rajasthan in the late evening on Monday while no suicide note has been recovered from his room yet. 

Rajesh Pathak, a local police officer on November 28 said that the police were called by the landlord after the deceased student did not respond to several knocks.

Hussain was last seen at 4 pm on Sunday by his friend and he did not step outside his room till 7 pm on Monday and did not answer his friends' calls. Police were further informed about the case by the house owner following which police rushed to the site. Police broke open the door to find the youth hanging and lifeless

No signs of mental struggles have been reported by the deceased's institution and the body will be sent to post-mortem after his parents' arrival while further investigation is underway. This marked the 28th suicide case in the year at the coaching hub of India, Kota marking the highest since 2015.

IIT Aspirant In Kota Dies By Suicide At Home In UP:

Last Monday, another student preparing for IIT in Kota allegedly died by suicide in his home at UP's Balliya where the deceased student went for the holidays. 

Roshan Verma (20) in his house in Devki Chappra village was sleeping with his family in a verandah when at some point on Monday night, the student went up inside his room and hanged himself. The family discovered him hanging the next morning. 

The family reported Verma had been suffering from severe headaches and was undergoing treatment and it is believed that he committed suicide because of it, said SHO Dharam Veer Singh. 

Students Died By Suicide In Kota:

On September 19 this year, a 16-year-old girl from UP committed suicide by consuming poison. 6 days later a student from Jharkhand committed suicide on September 13.

On August 27, two NEET students from Bihar and Maharashtra died on the same day in a gap of six hours after giving their weekly preparation test raising concerns all over the country.

The toll has been high with 26 cases of students' death by suicide in Kota and the number has now reached the highest to 28. 

Considering the spate of deaths, the state government of Rajasthan in a survey stated that over 1% of students in Kota suffer from clinical depression due to tedious studying patterns by coaching institutes. 

These surging tolls of suicide rates have also led the government to form committees, mandating rules for the institution for the welfare of students' mental health and taking other precautionary methods, despite which the suicide cases amongst students are still rising.
