Sonu Sood COVID-19 positive: The Jodhaa Akbar actor took to social media Saturday to announce he has tested positive for the virus and is quarantining himself.

Sood, owing to his relentless philanthropic efforts since 2020 when the pandemic took over India, has been dubbed a "messiah" by several fans and other admirers.

In a note, Sood informed followers of his COVID-19 status. "This is to inform you that I have tested positive this morning for COVID-19. As a part of precautions I have already quarantined myself and taking utmost care.." he

Referring to efforts he has taken in the previous weeks of arranging necessities both financial and medicinal under his newly established Sonu Sood Foundation, he added, "But don't worry this gives me ample time to solve your problems. Remember I'm always there for you all."

Sood recently also showed strong support for students rallying for postponement and cancellation of board exams across India, in view of a deadly COVID-19 surge. "This time the Board exams are not for the students but for the authorities. They cancel the exams : They pass. They conduct the exams : They fail," he wrote April 12 asking for boards to be cancelled, adding, "Life is precious." More about Sood's efforts here.
