The ongoing controversy involving Sapna Gill and Prithvi Shaw over a selfie has now shifted gears, with Gill claiming the cricketer molested her.

Sapna Gill and a few others were apprehended on February 15 for their alleged involvement in an altercation with Shaw at a hotel in the suburbs after a dispute over taking selfies. Gill is presently free on bail.

Sapna Gill And Prithvi Shaw Case

  1. Sapna Gill, a social media influencer, filed a criminal complaint on Wednesday against cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his friend. She registered an FIR and the case was brought before the Andheri Magistrate court in Mumbai. Gill claimed that it was actually the cricketer who assaulted her. According to her, Prithvi Shaw had forcibly placed his hands on her breasts and shoved her, in addition to physically attacking her with a cricket bat.
  2. As per Gilll, she and her friend Shobhit Thakur were frequent visitors to the club where Thakur spotted Shaw socialising with his friends in an inebriated state. As a cricket fan, Thakur approached Shaw to take selfies, but the application stated that his gesture was met with a "hostile" response.
  3. After the ">altercation, Prithvi Shaw's car was vandalised with a baseball bat by Sapna Gill and her companions. Gill stated that Shaw and Yadav were the ones who physically attacked her and that the case against her was falsely registered.
  4. Gill has lodged another complaint on the grounds of inaction and negligence of duty against two Airport police officers for failing to record her complaint against Shaw. Both of these cases will be heard on 17 April.
  5. Gill’s lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan, stated that a complaint has been filed against Shaw and Ashish Yadav. The complaint was filed in the Andheri magistrate's court for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under the Indian Penal Code sections of 354, 509, and 324. These sections refer to assault with criminal force on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, gesture or act intended to insult a woman's modesty, and causing hurt by dangerous means respectively.
