Kerala Police Officer M A Arya's parental instincts kicked in as she decided to breastfeed a hungry four-month-old baby whose mother was admitted to the ICU of an Ernakulam hospital, Press Trust of India reported. The infant, along with three siblings, was brought to the Kochi Women's Police Station where Arya is an officer, as they had no one else looking after them. The police were informed that the children's mother, a migrant from Patna, is their only caretaker in Kerala as their father is in jail for an undisclosed reason.

Officer Arya, who is also a mother to a nine-month-old baby, did not hesitate to volunteer to breastfeed the hungry baby as soon as they were brought in. According to reports, the baby's mother, Ajana, was undergoing treatment for heart ailments at Ernakulam General Hospital, and the hospital authorities informed the police about the four unattended minor children. The infant's siblings are two, five, and thirteen years old.

Touching Display of Care

After the police were informed, the children were taken to the women's police station where they were provided refreshments. As the four-month-old child cried in hunger, Officer M A Arya was thinking on her feet and decided to feed the baby herself. With permission from her superior officers, Arya began nourishing the baby

According to reports, Kochi City Police has released a statement that the children were later shifted to a childcare home, ensuring their well-being in a more suitable environment. The statement also mentioned that the children's mother Ajana is still in the ICU.

Officer Arya's quick thinking garnered the attention of the Kochi City Police, who posted a video of this incident on their social media page, where all the other women officers were also seen looking after the baby together. Facebook users lauded Officer Arya with positive comments under the video.

One user wrote, "A mother knows that a child's hunger is satisfied, you did a good job, madam," while another said, "We're proud of you from the heart." According to reports, the Kochi Police is expected to formally honoured Officer M A Arya soon, for going above and beyond her line of duty.
