Reportedly, the intense heat in West Bengal resulted in Sinha's dropping off her blood pressure levels due to which the news anchor reportedly fainted.

Doordarshan Anchor Faints Live Reporting Heatwave Updates; Here's Why

The video of the Doordarshan TV news anchor has now surfaced on the internet as it underscores the intensity of heat waves that can get to the good of any of us even inside an air-conditioned newsroom.

The incident occurred during a morning broadcast on April 18. Sinha, a veteran anchor with 21 years of experience, later attributed her fainting to a sudden drop in blood pressure, likely exacerbated by the intense heat and snag in the cooling system of the newsroom as West Bengal touched a temperature of 40 degrees on Thursday.

In the video message, Sinha can be seen a little zoned out and slurring while reading the news before she fell as she blacked out. Addressing the video, Sinha posted on her Facebook page as she described: "The teleprompter faded away and I blacked out... I collapsed on my chair."

Addressing many concerns over her health Sinha assured her well-being and recounted feeling unwell and thirsty even before the broadcast began, which was unusual as she usually doesn't keep water around her as her broadcast is just 30 minutes and she felt she could read the news without taking a sip of water in those 30 minutes throughout her career.

Contrary to her usual practices, Sinha recalled feeling thirsty even while 15 minutes were left for the broadcast to end. When visuals were running on the screens, Sinha quickly asked for some water from the floor manager but did not get a chance to take a sip as on that particular day, there were fewer visuals as general stories were running that required Sinha to speak without any bytes.

However, during the heatwave report from Sinha, her speech began to slur, and she lost consciousness. Fortunately, her collapse coincided with a brief animation sequence of 30-40 seconds, providing a momentary break in the broadcast. Her colleagues rushed to her aid, and Sinha later recovered.

The temperatures across India can soar, some regions, like Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, have been witnessing particularly brutal conditions, with readings exceeding 46 degrees and this incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of heatstroke and dehydration, especially during these extreme heatwaves, as Sinha also urged her viewers to take care of themselves during these scorching heat and expressed her shock of experiencing something like this for the first time in her 21 years long career. Sinha also thanked show producers for managing the broadcast without her and apologised to everyone.
