On Cam: Girl, 6, Attacked By German Shepherd In Ghaziabad Society

In a recent harrowing incident, CCTV footage captured a 6-year-old girl in Ghaziabad's housing society who a German Shepherd bit as she was riding her bicycle in the residential complex, passing by the dog. The girl in the CCTV footage is identified as Vanya Chauhan (6) who sustained injuries on her hands. The incident was reported from the Ajnara Integrity Housing Society.

The disturbing video shows Vanya riding her bike passing by the dog when the dog who was on the leash lunged over to Vanya pulling her off the balance. Despite the dog being on a leash and the owner's struggle to control the canine, he bit the girl in her arms. 

Before the severity of the dog attack could be intensified, it was Vanya's mother, Nimita Chuhan, who was present on the scene swiftly took charge to intervene and rescue her daughter from the dog attack.

Namita then asked for the help of a security guard present at the scene while asking her son and daughter to move back while many other children in the video can be seen walking around the society when the incident took place.

Subsequently, Namita picked up her son in her arms and took away her daughter after having a brief conversation with the owner of the dog and left the area. As per the reports of India Today, Vanya sustained injuries on her hands and waist from dog bites. 

Taking immediate action, as per NDTV report, Namita led a complaint against the dog's owner under Section 289 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for negligence in handling the animal likely to cause hurt or danger. Namita also gave her statement that noted the dog was not wearing a muzzle when the attack took place. 

Additionally, Namita also claimed the dog tried to attack her 1-year-old toddler, however, this was not captured in the CCTV footage which is now going viral on the internet. She also seeks strict actions against the owner in the society to ensure the safety of other residents as she urges to remove the dog from the society premises.

The Ghaziabad Police confirmed that a case has been registered and ACP Ravi Kumar informed that an investigation into the matter is underway.
